Bruce Willis will return again as John McClane. On October 5, 2010, Willis announced that a first draft of the script was finished and that shooting should begin in 2011. John McClane and his son take on local forces in Russia who secretly plots an assassination on the President of U.S. Filming began as planned, on April 23, 2012 in Budapest, Hungary where filming will continue until May 14, 2012.
On 4th July 2012, during shoot, a five story building being used for a stunt scene for Die Hard 5 in Budapest unintentionally erupted into flames.
A Good Day to Die Hard sees John McClane travel to Russia to help out his son, who has become embroiled in some kind of terrorist plot. Jai Courtney will be playing McClane’s son Jack, with Sebastian Koch and Yuliya Snigir confirmed as a pair of Russian Villains. Behind Enemy Lines helmer John Moore is directing. Cole Hauser is possibly playing some sort of double crosser villian role in Die Hard 5. Die Hard 5 is set for a February 2013 release.

Director John Moore told Empire that it will be as good as the first four, "People are well savvy to the cynical reheating of any product, any franchise. Any shit won't do. The bar's a bit higher... There are a couple of great gags and a couple of great McClanisms. It's not like he's this idiot, bumbling around Moscow making 'America won the Cold War' jokes. It's not Carry On Die Hard, I can assure you...''
A Good Day to Die Hard is due for release in February 2013.
